Atlas Falls for Brass Band

A$150.00

Atlas Falls is a major work for Brass Band, aimed at 1st section bands and above (A-B grade).
Commissioned by the Flixton Brass Band in 2020.

Atlas Falls tells the story of the Greek Titan god Atlas, holding up the world on his shoulders. The first movement is depicting his strength, whilst sections of the music depict harmless amounts of humans living upon the surface.

The second movement depicts his loneliness standing by himself forever holding up the world, and develops into being visited by Gaia (mother earth) who comforts him and thanks him for his sacrifices, before he is then left alone.

The third movement is a battle between Atlas trying to hold up the world, and humans carelessly and exponentially growing and disregarding the value of the world he carries. Towards the end, things begin to look up as it looks like humanity and Atlas might both look after the world, but finally, the weight of the world becomes too much, and atlas falls, crushed by the world he tried to protect.
